Song of the Week- Sun Don’t Shine

If Cara Delevingne went to my school I can picture how she’d be that pretty, popular, infuriatingly good at everything girl. Modelling for Mulberry and DKNY, attending glamorous parties and just happening to be BFFs with Rita Ora and Pixie Geldof, but you just can’t help loving her. And now she’s added singing to her never-ending list of talents. She’s also very good at that too, which is why I thought I’d share this song with you.

I love its chilled out vibe, it’s the sort of song that I have on my playlist when my girls are over chilling and pouring over magazines that usually have Miss Delevingne on the front of them also. Just listen. It’s hard not to like.

Holiday Countdown

In my last few posts I’ve mentioned that my holiday is creeping up on me, and hinted that I’d being doing some sort of outfit posts whilst I’m there, so I guess this is a kind of introduction. My holiday is 3 days away, and obviously I’m excited for just having a break from the real world and getting into holiday mode but also I have so many new outfits that I can’t wait to share with you. I’m going on a cruise so hopefully I’ll manage two outfits per day- a daytime casual outfit then my evening outfit which I can’t wait to post as I love getting dressed up and doing my hair and make-up. Also the cruise I’m going on is around Scandinavia and Russia so the daytime outfit posts wont just be 14 days worth of bikini snaps to damage your vision. So basically watch this space…

Interview with Megan from My Names Megan!

I always think it’s nice to get to know other bloggers a little bit better, especially ones in a similar position to myself, i.e. new to the bloggersphere, and help promote each others blogs. I said pretty much this in my previous post, but I really do think getting to know other bloggers is lovely. So when I asked Megan from the fabulous blog My Names Megan about doing an interview I was thrilled when she replied saying that she’d love too. Just to anyone reading this- if you ever are interested in doing an interview or something on my blog just tweet me and let me know because I really do love getting to know you all. So anyway I’m going to stop rambling on now, as the sun is starting to shine through the blinds so I might go for a quick run before tea, and get on with the questions…

1. Could you please tell us a bit about yourself in 3 random facts…

 – I’m terrified of spiders, sharks and deep water, they’re my biggest fears. As well as normal stuff like murderers etc. 😉

 – Besides blogging, my other hobby is dancing! I currently study Grade 6 ballet, intermediate ballet and pointework, and I’m doing my Grade 5 modern exam this weekend, so soon I’ll be grade 6 for that!

 – My favourite TV shows are Game of Thrones, Pretty Little Liars, Gossip Girl and Glee! 🙂

2. How would you some up your style?

I would say my style is grungy, but sometimes a little bit more ‘hipster’ ooh, I hate using that term, but I can’t think of a better way to sum it up!

3. If you could steal anyones wardrobe whose would it be and why?

My all time fashion inspiration is probably Perrie Edwards from Little Mix, she has the perfect mix of boho and grungy style! I also love Sammi from Beautycrush’s style, Kavita from She Wears fashion and Luanna from Le Happy, they all wear the most amazing stuff that I wish I could pull off!

4. What made you want to start a blog? Did you have any inspiration?

I originally started up a different blog about two years ago, but I gave it up pretty soon after, I wasn’t a very dedicated 12 year old! I can’t remember what my inspiration was back then, I think I just thought it was a cool way to share my thoughts on fashion and beauty online, and that’s still what I think today! I think I was also inspired by people like Zoe (Zoella) and Louise (Sprinkle of Glitter), who I’ve been following/watching for ever!

5. What blogs do you enjoy reading the most?

I love getting outfit inspiration from blogs, so my favourite blogs are mainly fashion focused ones! I love Le Happy, She Wears Fashion, Style and Starbucks, Ellie’s Favourite Things, and loads more, but those are some of my favourites!

6. Shorts or skirt? Heels or Flats? Red lipstick or pink lipgloss? Straight or Curly Hair? Twitter,Tumblr, Facebok or Instagram? London or LA? Summer or Winter?

    – Shorts, I feel a lot more confident when there’s no chance of accidental flashing! I do love a good skater skirt though 🙂

-As much as I’d love to say heels, I’m much more comfortable in boots or my precious creepers!

    – Red lipstick! I love a red lip, it’s my all time favourite beauty look, along with some sleek winged eyeliner 🙂

    – I can’t choose, I like both! I have naturally curly hair, but I love having it straight too 🙂

    – I think Twitter is my favourite, but Tumblr is great for killing time, I could spend hours on there! I’m not such a big fan of Facebook or Instagram, though the filters on IG are great for improving my photos!

    – Definitely London, I love it there! I think the heat in LA would be a bit much for me, and London is just so magical and interesting, it’s one of my favourite places to spend the day 🙂

    – The summer holidays are one of my favourite events of the year, but overall I’d say winter, as I love winter fashion like layering, as well as the things that accompany it, like Halloween, Christmas, snow and my birthday!

7. What are you most looking forward to about summer?

Not having any school! Me and my friends have also made a bucket list of things we’d like to do in summer, including things like paintballing, zorbing, a day in Brighton and loads more, and I’m really looking forward to checking some of those things off! 🙂

8. What are your summer beauty essentials?

My summer beauty essentials would be suncream (obviously), a nice light tinted moisturiser, waterproof mascara and bright lipsticks and nail polishes! You don’t want to have a full face of makeup on a hot day, so tinted moisturiser is ideal, and a bright lipstick or nail varnish will add a pop of colour. Waterproof mascara and suncream are obvious necessities for everyone!

I would just like to say thank you to Megan for answering my slightly unimaginative questions, and I realise I have basically just repeated myself today but  if you are interested in doing anything like this please let me know!

Adiós for now and enjoy the sunshine!

Liebster Award !

It’s so nice to know that someone is actually reading your blog, especially when your just starting off, and that basically what the Liebster award is all about, as I found out yesterday when I checked my referrers. I had been nominated for the Liebster award by the lovely Megan from the blog- My Name’s Megan. The idea of the award is that bloggers nominate other bloggers with less than 200 followers to help them get a bit more notice. So it’s kinda like we area all supporting each other. Aw, blog fwends. So here are the rules:

1. You have to link back to the blogger that nominated you- so for me it was Megan from My Name’s Megan– thank you!

2.You then have to answer the eleven questions from the post that the blogger nominated you in- so I’ll be answering Megan’s questions and if I nominate you then you’ll have to answer my questions.

3. Next you need to choose eleven bloggers to nominate that have less than 200 followers on their blog.

4. Then you have to make up eleven questions for your nominees to answer.

5. And finally let them know that you’ve nominated them through twitter or facebook or their blog.

Megan’s Questions:

 1) What’s your all time favourite item of clothing you own? That’s so hard, as I change my mind so much, but I’ll probably go with my red and black velvet kimono from Topshop as it’s so versatile and feels really luxurious to wear.

2) If you could go on an unlimited shopping spree in ONE shop, which shop would you choose? I would choose ASOS because it has such a selection of brands and styles.

3) What’s one thing you would like to do/achieve this summer? I just want to have a really fun summer with my friends and family, as I’m going on holiday then when I get back I can just picture BBQ’s and water fights and staying up all night. That’s like my perfect Summer.

4) If you had to pick only one, which one would you choose: Fashion or Beauty? I’m pretty rubbish at doing my make-up creatively as I only really wear Foundation, Blusher and Mascara, so I’d go with fashion as for me there’s no boundaries.

5) Who is your celebrity crush? 😉 Aha there are so many but my faves are Ryan Gosling (isn’t that every-bodies?) and Tom Hardy.

6) What’s your dream job? A fashion journalist or a stylist.

7) What’s the last song you listened to? Can’t Hold Us- Macklemore.

8) If you were ever to dye your hair a wacky colour, which colour would you choose? Lilac ❤

9) What’s your all time favourite film? Mean Girls, Clueless or Rocky.

10) Who is your style icon? I prefer street style so I have like 7 billion I guess.

11) Topshop or H&M? Imma Topshop gal 😉
My Questions:
1.What’s the most unique thing about yourself?
2.If you could steal anyone’s wardrobe who’s would it be and why?
3. For you what is the best thing about Summer?
4. What’s on your summer wishlist?
5. Dream Job?
6. Highstreet or High-End?
7. Favourite fashion era (eg. the 90’s)
8. Favourite song at the moment?
9. If you could only ever where one colour on your lips again what would it be?
10. What’s the first shop you head to when out shopping?
11. What is your favourite film?
My Nominations:
There are so many fab blogs out there, the above are just a few lovely blogs that I think really deserve recognition for there amazingness.
If you have a blog please feel free to e-mail me or tweet me (take a look at my Contact page) to let me know about it, as I love discovering new blogs! Finally thanks again Megan for nominating me, it really does mean a lot 🙂
Until next time- Becky xox

My Manchester Adventure

First of all I would like to apologise for not really writing a ‘real’ post in quite a while as I feel like my last few posts have sort of been just to give my self the temporary satisfaction of saying to myself that I had written something on my blog. But my school term is coming to an end, as this week was my last in year 9, which mainly consisted of watching films and pretending to work when the head teacher walks in, so today seemed like a perfect opportunity to write something fashion related, as it’s been a while.

Last weekend me and my friend caught the train into Manchester, to catch up on a well needed gossip and to also feed our shopping desires. The start of the day didn’t quite to plan, as when we arrived, I tried to navigate through the busy streets, but soon ended up taking us on a de-tour heading towards the airport. Eventually though we decided to be like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz (minus the enthusiastic skipping as it wasn’t even 11am ) and follow the trams lines, instead of the yellow brick road, until we reached Primark. The inside of Primark always seems to resemble a jungle with mountains of clothes and prints surrounding you in a kind of intoxicating way, however I did pick up a few bargains. With the summer weather gracing us with its presence in the past weeks, I have been feeling quite sporty and energetic and I wanted my clothes to resemble this new vibe of varsity, american high school inspired preppiness. If you have ever seen a Disney Channel movie, where the girlfriend of a football player stands in the bleachers in an oversized top, failing to look imperfect, then you may understand. Baggy t-shirts are like my new best friend, as my imagination isn’t seeming to stretch very far in the way of outfit creation at the moment, so they are just so easy to throw over denim cut-offs. I think the mesh panels on the side of it, create quite a sports luxe feel, whilst the number keeps in casual.imageimage

I love the contrast of the two textures on the first picture, but I’ll try to do a better one of the second when the sun comes out again, and gives me some light. Here are a few pictures from Topshop’s ‘Urban Education’ lookbook, which I can’t say were my inspiration,as I saw them after my shopping trip, but kind off summed up the vibe.

Look 3Look 4Look 1

I also picked up the super cute Mickey Mouse cropped top for £6, which I plan on wearing underneath my denim dungarees, with a bold red lipstick. Back in winter, I remember seeing a top in H&M that had Mickey Mouse on the front of it, but feeling as if I wasn’t quite old enough to not look childish in it, but I think really it’s about how you wear it. The lighting was rubbish yesterday, so I apologise for the quality of some of these photos.

There just seems to be baskets of sunglasses everywhere in Primark, and while i know that their £1 plastic sunnies might not be the best quality, my summer wardrobe ranges from pastels to fluros to sparkles this year, so I would like quite a few pairs to compliment my outfits. Sun protection is important okay! That and they looked lonely on their own in the basket. I also thought the sparkly sides were cute, and the circular frames on the other pair are also quite John Lennon, who FYI is my current obsession. It came to a total of £15.50 (both tops were £6, the circular framed sunglasses were £1 and the others £2.50),  image image

Next we ventured into Topshop, and as usual I wanted pretty much everything. I was on a bit of a budget as otherwise I would have probably considered buying the plastic transparent mac they had in stock for £36 (I think). Whilst the rest of Topshop’s festival collection was quite bohemian/western, the mac was more understated and simple. Infact, as I think about it more, this seems quite practical for my trip to Scandinavia in summer, as I doubt the weather there will be scorching but I want to remain fashionable (no other word seemed appropriate, I apologise for sounding like a trashy magazine). I’ve seen quite a few of these in the past few weeks, with designers such as Richard Nicholl creating designer versions, however the thought of paying £200 for a bit of PVC seemed quite ridiculous.

Although I didn’t buy any of the festival range, I did purchase a green cropped cotton t-shirt, with a zebra embroidered onto the front. I envisioned wearing it with my black and white printed leggings, however when I later took it out of the bag, I had a slight dilemma. Topshop’s clothes include both US and UK sizes and I had decided to by the top, although it was a size ten as it was the only one left in stock, and I was quite in love. But when I got home, having not tried it on, I realised that the UK size is a 14, which may be slightly big as I’m a size 6. I typed the last sentence last week, and since then I have tried on the t-shirt, which does fit, in a laid-back baggy style and took the picture below. I just rolled up the sleeves a few times as they were drowning my arms and wore it with my black felt Aztec print leggings.

Please excuse my bendy wrists and frizz-bomb hair.

And finally here are just a couple of cute pictures from our day-

Hola Amigos

Hello everybody, I hope your all having a lovely half term. I arrived back from España yesterday, however I am still just as pale despite spending hours in the sun, sizzling like meat on a barbecue (sorry, that was a horrible simile). Anyway, I realised just a few moments ago that before I went away, I created a new page, near the top of my blog, called ‘The clothes that I wear in my body…’ which is basically just an outfits page. Instead of having to write a blog post every time I wear an outfit that I want to share with you, I thought it would be easier to share them through that page. I will still do outfit posts and the pictures from them will still go onto the page, but when I’m in a bit of a rush (which seems to be like 99% if the time at the moment) they can just go straight there. I hope that made sense.

Anyway whilst I’m sitting down and concentrating I thought I would share with you some pictures that I found quite entertaining-

Playlist of the week

Perhaps I don’t have the most unique taste in music, however these are songs that really relate to me at the moment and I will definitely be listening to on the plane on Thursday-

Teenage Dirtbag– You know them moments when you just want to rebel and be the person who doesn’t care, no, maybe it’s just me then, but this song is just perfect for them. It’s the kind of song that makes you want to  jump on your bed to and play air guitar, which from experience can be slightly embarrassing when a parent walks in.

Teen Idle– Marina and the Diamonds- I have a serious girl crush on Marina and I’m not afraid to admit it. She’s like perff. Her porcelain skin, dolly like features and feathery eyelashes  are just wow. Anyway onto the actual song I sort of have the same feelings about it as the previous one, the theme of confusion surrounding adolescence and discovering who you are, and regretting things you didn’t do or say just seems so relevant.

Can’t Hold Us– Macklemore- This song makes me actually smile, when it comes on the radio a huge grin spreads across my face, it’s just such a happy song. That’s all I really have to say about it. that and Macklemore is pretty hot. Pfft.

Let her Go- Passenger– This is such an honest and relate-able song about how we don’t acknowledge what we have until we no longer have it. Lately I have started to appreciate things a lot more as after a couple of  big arguments I realised that we aren’t here forever and neither are the people that we love so we should show how much we love the, through how we treat them.  I went through a stage where I was so argumentative and always assumed that people were having a go at me when they were trying to advise me because they care about me,but I didn’t see it that way, I saw them as patronising. But now I have concluded that even if someone is mad at me, the situation won’t get better from me being a bitch back, it just escalates, and backs up what they initially thought about me. And as cringe-worthy as it sounds this was the song that made me realise it.Lets all just be nice to each other, and make each other friendship bracelets and eat ice cream together. So you get my point. That was deep, man.

Here Comes The Sun– The Beatles- Well its the Beatles, what else can I say? But no seriously, it just made me feel excited for summer and my holiday in a few days in Spain , a place where the sun actually exists. And the guitar sounds a bit like the ones that them mad Spanish men play in the street so its like practically Spanish revision, or so I told my mum.
